چکیده

Tarim Basin is the largest Petroliferous basin in China, while its shale gas development potential has not been fully revealed. The organic-rich black middle Ordovician Heituao Formation from Tadong low uplift of considered as an important source rock and characteristic large thickness, high organic matter content thermal maturity degree. To obtain potential, geochemical, mineralogical mechanics research conducted based on Rock-Eval pyrolysis, total carbon (TOC), X-ray diffraction (XRD) uniaxial compression experiments. results show that: (1) TOC ranges between 0.63 2.51 wt% with average value 1.22 wt%, Tmax values are 382–523 °C (average = 468.9 °C), S2 relatively which 0.08 to 1.37 mg HC/g (averaging 0.42 rock); (2) poor abundance indicated by value, gas-prone property, post mature stage (stage dry gas). (3) Quartz main mineral component samples, accounting for 26–94 72 wt%. Additionally, Young’s modulus 20.0 23.1 GPa 21.2 GPa, Poisson’s ratio 0.11 0.21 0.15); (4) fracability parameter brittleness index (BI) 0.28 0.99 0.85), indicating good development. This study reveals accumulation Basin, beneficial future exploration production practice.

Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry of Kuhkamar Shale in the Roum section (South of Qayen): Application for Provenance and Tectonic setting

The Kuhkamar shale with a thickness of 354 m is composed of siliciclastic rocks (sandstone and shale). Petrography studies of the sandstones in this area show two petrofacies including arkose and sub-arkose. These sandstones composed of sub rounded to moderately sorted; therefore, compositionaly to texturaly, they are immature to submature with mono and polycrystalline quartz and k-feldespar. I...

Intelligent fracture creation for shale gas development

Shale gas represents a major fraction of the proven reserves of natural gas in the United States and a collection of other countries. Higher gas prices and the need for cleaner fuels provides motivation for commercializing shale gas deposits even though the cost is substantially higher than traditional gas deposits. Recent advances in horizontal drilling and multistage hydraulic fracturing, whi...

Review of Well Logs and Petrophysical Approaches for Shale Gas in Sichuan Basin, China

China has vast reserves of shale gas. Currently, shale gas is one of the focuses of the unconventional reservoir. Well logs play an import role in shale gas production, and it is the bridge connecting geology, geophysics and petroleum engineering. In the exploration stage, well logs are used to identify lithology, evaluate the parameters of mineral types and compositions, total organic carbon (...

The Economics of Shale Gas Development

In the past decade, innovations in hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling have fueled a boom in the production of natural gas (as well as oil) from geological formations—primarily deep shales—in which hydrocarbon production was previously unprofitable. Impacts on US fossil fuel production and the US economy more broadly have been transformative, even in the first decade. The boom has been...
